My Poetry

Some of my poetry:

Oh give us strength --
Shiva and Jesus,
Allah, Mohamed and Zeus,
Dakinis and Ides
with the monks and the priests,
me and you,
all good men of the earth
animals, insects,
trees, birds come too,
most of all --
you angels on high,
it's time to join arms
because hiding within
heavenly clouds above
is a spiderweb in the sky.

Today I Learned

Today I rode a little kid's bike
with a big pink bananaseat
I rang the bell and it made me laugh
then I fell and skinned my knee
I blew a wish on a fairywind flower
and saw the smile of a bee
I ate some grass for the very first time
and felt the wind pass right through me
I saw a goose with a blue eye wink
I looked right into the sun
Played hopskotch as if to save my life
The first time I'd ever had fun
Today I learned a song from a bird
Shook the hand of another loon
Learned directions from a slow child
Pinched the cheek of the man in the moon
I climbed a big old oak tree today
and looked out over the world
I saw the meaning of life in a cloud
Was reborn as an innocent girl.

WORDLESS WILLOW
by Willow (9 years old) with some help :)

I am wordless like the tongue-tied wind
i am as silent as the snow
tight-lipped like the starfish, hushed,
a soundless weeping willow.
I'm a dead-tired sleeping little pup
or an unspoken thought unheard,
I am a zipped-up buttercup
like a clammed up precious pearl.
I am a mute mouse, shut up, stilled,
as mum as a cloud in May,
I'm butterfly shy -- so hush-hush
loudmouths, we need some quiet today!

Silly Shaped Poem #548

What
for love,
a rock? poem?
a bidet? no way-
too posh! I'll squat
and make my point
this way. Don't make
me yell, now hush luv,
more near, I'll bend
your ear, keep
clear of mines
and snakes

Silly Poem #527

I had an epiphany last night
just after I smoked a leaf
and ate a quart of cherry garcia
a sort of holy moment
surrounded by golden light
the moon whispered in my ear
that there was a secret
invisible language of plants
that animals could hear
and i remembered the crows
after the willow was fell'd
by the neighbors chainsaw
how they tore off his shingles
and flew away laughing
so i eat more sprouts
that giggle in my tummy
and grow like vines
a great jungle inside
with little flowers that hide
just beneath open pores
turning my daisyface
to the sun all day
and enjoying the rain
more than ever before.
